Osvaldo Ferreira

Osvaldo Ferreira (1980), was born and lives in Angola. He is one of the first artists to do higher education in Arts within the Angolan territory. His work, mostly in painting, focuses on exploring themes of everyday life in Angolan society and expressing an intergenerational continuity/discontinuity relationship with regard to social experiences. Chromatically and materially frequently integrates elements that refer to the African textile tradition of exuberant colors to emphasize the presence of the cultural and social heritage of a continent that, through colonization and globalization, has witnessed over the centuries successive processes of cultural appropriation and manipulation that they triggered involuntary miscegenation and the imposition of a degenerative system of their identity.
