‘Intaka yakha ngoboya benye’ is a Xhosa proverb which means'a bird uses another bird's feathers to build its nest'. The meaning is not exploitation as one might wrongly assume, but that you need help from another person to achieve your goals. This work is influenced by the idea of ubuntu and a sense of community and the unity amongst people. The ostrich leathers create a arial view of township, more like an informal settlement. The materials also represents the expression of life within these spaces. The artwork embraces the beauty of life expressed through fashion as a form of wanting to be seen and visible.
