The piece is inspired by a Xhosa doek style called isipoho; which appears as two horns. Both Xhosa men and women wear this similar style. Though they might be a slight difference and meaning. This to me symbolizes power, dignity and respect. This has been a style that has been employed by many generations within Xhosa culture, dating back to the years of our forefathers. And has been kept till today by those who still embrace Xhosa culture in our villages. The piece has been produced during my residency program at Archie Bray Foundation, Helena,MT, USA 2023. It has never been exhibited anywhere.
