"'Stateless' was made in an attempt to merge two spaces in time. By way of 'manufactured memory', this new space is created by taking visual elements from different lived experiences that are familiar to me. By doing so I am addressing the past with links to the present so as to create possibilities for a more conscious future. By harvesting the figure from its original environment and placing it in a totally new and unfamiliar space the symbolism of displacement becomes a starting point to the process of existing in ephemeral spaces. This process creates room for the recontextualization of events in time, yet unspecified but still familiar enough to heal trauma and provide answers through an alternate reality." - Austin Uzor, January 2021.
