"My work is about coming of age narratives and deals with the happy/sad and joyful/ shameful paradox. The painting Limb shows a couple's embrace with one arm dangling out the canvas. 'Limb' was made during quarantine [during the COVID-19 Global Pandemic], and it reflects on the human condition of longing and romantic queer love. While the work was in my studio, I often stared at it to think of stories, of someone leaving, of a couple's quarrel or something sexual, - what is not painted, where the hand could have been…" - Brett Charles Seiler, July 2020.
