“Solitude” is part of a series of paintings and embroidery panels that are based on a narrative about a woman withdrawing from an urban landscape to find comfort in the lush forest. She is alone but not lonely, she is seeking inner strength and inner beauty.

I named this painting “Solitude” mainly because I was inspirited by Alice Koller writings ‘’Being solitary is being alone well, being alone luxuriously immersed in doings of your own choice, aware of the fullness of your own presence rather than the absence of others. Because solitude is an achievement.’’

This resonated with the period of my life when I was seeking the sanctity of solitude. Through my paintings, I find comfort in telling my story.
